Application of PRF membranes

PRF in implantology - faster healing and better regeneration with PRF technology | Unident Union®

At the clinic Unident Union® in Wrocław implant treatments are supported by the PRF method (Platelet Rich Fibrin) - natural regenerative technology that accelerates tissue healing and improves the course of implant treatment.

PRF in implantology is an innovative solution that uses the patient's own blood, without any artificial additives, drugs or chemicals. As a result, the risk of complications is minimal and the treatment results are much better.

How does the PRF work?

PRF stands for Platelet Rich Fibrin, or fibrins platelet-rich. During the implant procedure, a small amount of the patient's venous blood is collected. The blood is then centrifuged using a specialised medical centrifuge - without the use of any chemicals or anticoagulants. As a result of this process, layers of plasma and platelets are separated and the resulting clot is formed into a flexible, thin PRF membrane.

It is this membrane - rich in natural growth factors and immune cells - that is used directly at the treatment site.  The use of PRF membranes in surgery and implantology.

PRF membranes are used for, among other things:

  • covering implants,
  • securing bone grafts,
  • accelerating healing after tooth extractions,
  • soft tissue reconstruction (gums, papillae),
  • regeneration of bone defects and treatment of inflammatory conditions.

Why PRF? Key Benefits for the Patient

The use of PRF technology in dental treatment offers the patient a number of benefits:

  • significantly faster healing after surgical procedures,
  • less swelling and discomfort post-surgery,
  • natural stimulation of bone and gum reconstruction,
  • No risk of allergy - PRF is derived from the patient's own blood,
  • reducing the use of artificial materials and medicines.

This makes the return to daily function after the procedure shorter and safer.

How do I prepare for the PRF procedure?

The quality of PRF material largely depends on the body's general condition and blood parameters. Therefore, it is advisable to ensure adequate preparation before the planned procedure.

Key factors influencing PRF quality:

  • LDL cholesterol
  • Its excess can affect the structure of the clot,
  • Hydration and diet - promote plasma density and cellular oxygenation,
  • low inflammation - it is worthwhile to perform CRP tests and homocysteine.

Recommended supplementation before PRF treatment:

  • Vitamin D3 - it is essential to test blood levels and supplement as recommended by your doctor,
  • Vitamin C - 2,000 to 4,000 mg daily, in divided doses,
  • Omega-3 - a minimum of 1 gram of DHA per day,
  • Coenzyme Q10 and resveratrol - support cellular regeneration,
  • Turmeric, spirulina, chlorophyll, vegetable juices - support the cleansing of the body and have an anti-inflammatory effect.

In addition, it is advisable to avoid alcohol, cigarettes and excessive stress - all of which can adversely affect blood quality and the effectiveness of the healing process.
