Orthodontics in the treatment of periodontal disease
AT UNIDENT UNION® there is a very large group of adults who have undergone orthodontic therapy, thereby treating their primary problem, so-called periodontitis, with great success.
Even if there is no coexisting malocclusion, but periodontal disease has been diagnosed, the fitting of braces is necessary to realign one's own teeth which, as a result of the loss of other teeth:
- have lost their correct positions,
- have moved into the gaps left by missing teeth, creating gaps elsewhere,
- have slipped vertically up or down because the antagonist tooth is missing,
and for these reasons they have become unstable!
Many patients with so-called periodontitis can save their teeth by using special orthodontic techniques.
With orthodontics, rotated, protruding teeth from the arch are returned to their correct vertical relationships. Teeth stop wobbling, bone and gum pockets decrease, periodontal condition improves dramatically.
Many of our patients with periodontal disease describe these processes as having exceeded their expectations.
