Ways of fixing prosthetic work on implants

Cemented or screwed?

W implantoprosthetics We distinguish between two basic ways of placing a prosthetic restoration on an implant:

a) Cemented work

This restoration (crowns or bridges) that are permanently cemented onto a prosthetic connector.
They are most often used in the aesthetic area - where the visual effect without visible access openings is most important.

Pros:

  • no visible access channel - high aesthetics,
  • perfect anatomical fit,
  • comfortable for the patient,
  • the possibility of making restorations with thin all-ceramic materials.

Limitations:

  • more difficult access for possible repairs or servicing (the work cannot be removed without destroying it),
  • greater risk of cement subgingivalif it is not done perfectly.

Therefore, in Unident Union we only use cementing where there is no doubt about the accuracy of the fit and space control subgingival.

b) Screwed works

These are restorations that are fixed with a screw directly to the implant or to the suprastructure (e.g. beams).
They remain fully stable, but can be safely removed if necessary.

Pros:

  • full control - easy to dismantle and service,
  • No cement - ideal for periodontal patients,
  • an excellent option in edentulous, extensive reconstructions,
  • the preferred method for All-on-4 / All-on-6 systems.

Limitations:

  • a visible screw hole (masked with composite material) - which is important mainly in the aesthetic area,
  • requires very precise positioning of the implant - so that the screw does not come out in an unsightly place (e.g. on the edge of an incisor).

What do we use at Unident Union?

W Unident Union each time we analyse the clinical, aesthetic and functional situation - and select the type of attachment individually.

  • For single crowns and bridges in the aesthetic areas - usually cemented,
  • When working on the entire arch or with edentulous teeth - always screw-on,
  • For bridges - both solutions are possible, depending on your preferences and conditions implantology.
