Bonding - an element of orthodontics
Bonding as part of orthodontic treatment
Bonding is part of the orthodontic treatment when changing the height of the occlusion and restoring teeth in a normal bite.
Treatment of malocclusion and improvement of facial features with orthodontic treatment require in many cases composite tooth restoration. Why? Because, as a result of malocclusion, pathological abrasion and chipping of tooth surfaces occur. A malfunctioning stomatognathic system has a destructive effect on the dentition.
Dr. stom. Iwona Gnach uses bonding as an element of neutral occlusion reconstruction during orthodontic treatment
- At Unident Union, the correct heights and shapes are given to the teeth even before braces are applied.
- Using a composite restoration, the smile designer lengthens teeth that have been 'eaten away' by an abnormal bite.
- At the bite reconstruction stage, bonding also covers the molars and premolars in order to rebuild any cusps and protrusions necessary for so-called occlusion and correct functional alignment of the teeth.
- Bonding is also used to restore teeth in such a way that they can be positioned correctly in the triads.
- The new generation of composite superstructures is characterised by its durability, especially when functioning in a correctly aligned bite.
Replacement of bonding with veneers or ceramic crowns
After completion of orthodontic treatment it is recommended to replace the bonding with veneers or ceramic crownswhen the extent of reconstruction is too great.
