Removal of eights

Painless and quick parting with eighths

There is no wise removal of wisdom teeth without accurate X-ray diagnosis. Only precise imaging of the eights by means of radiovisiography allows the procedure to be planned and performed in a way that is comfortable for the patient and non-invasive for the remaining dentition.

It is not always a surgical procedure, but even the classic extraction(removal) of a fully erupted toothrequires x-ray imaging to show how the roots of the eights run.

Therefore, the basis of a reliable treatment in this case is the taking of a digital photograph - panoramic and targeted.

The surgical procedures are also supported by the examination available at the clinic cone beam computed tomography with 3D imaging.

At Unident Union® we deal with the removal of eights:

  • retained in the bone, blocking orthodontic therapy
  • abnormally erupted teeth (not fitting into the arch, pressing the surrounding tissues, causing swelling, inflammation of the gums and the entire periodontium, thus posing a risk to the health of the entire body)
  • caries-affected areas, where treatment is difficult due to their location (at the patient's choice)

Threats from pathologically located eighths:

  1. Partially uprooted Eighths are a potential breeding ground for bacteria that reside in the plaque that collects around the teeth. They cause inflammation of the gums and the entire periodontium and, after entering the bloodstream, reach other parts of the body. A pathologically located eighth tooth can cause meningitis or kidney inflammation, for example.
  2. Due to the close proximity, inflammation provoked by the eights can be the culprit of inflammatory skin changes in the facial region. In the clinic, we often observe that after wisdom teeth removal and periodontal treatment, patients stop complaining about acne and their skin condition improves dramatically.

Recommendations after the removal of an eighth:

  • For a week, give up intensive mouthwash.
  • Also, forget smoking cigarettes, including electronic ones. It turns out that sucking in air while inhaling can cause the clot, which is the basis of wound healing, to dislodge.
  • For the same reason, it is not advisable to drink drinks through a straw until the wound has healed.
  • For a few days, avoid hot and hard foods as well as alcohol and intense exercise. All of these can interfere with the healing of the wound.
  • Maintain oral hygiene by gently brushing your teeth with a soft toothbrush, avoiding the area left by the eighth.
  • In many cases, antibiotic cover is also indicated. You will receive the necessary prescriptions from us.
  • If you have any worrying symptoms (prolonged bleeding, severe pain, clotting disorders), do not wait, but call us and make an appointment.
