Bonding, also known as composite veneers, is long-lasting, but this depends on three elements: the quality of the material, the skill of the dentist and the patient's attention to oral hygiene. It usually lasts 5-8 years as long as it is regularly serviced, polished and cleaned. Over time it can of course become abraded, discoloured and cracked, which can often be repaired. Bonding will last shorter in the mouth in people who have harmful habits, i.e. parafunctions such as pencil biting or nail biting.
