Why is a white implant not a fashionable gadget but a considered decision?

In recent years, there has been a lot of buzz around the so-called white implants - made of zirconium oxide - and the enthusiastic opinions. They are said to be "natural, ".biocompatible', 'aesthetic' and 'metal-free'. For many patients, this sounds like the ideal solution: modern, safe and beautiful. But the truth - as usual - is more complex.
And this is why it is worth saying out loud: the zirconia implant is not for everyone. And that is its greatest advantage.
The implant is not a fashion - it is a biological strategy

Instead, we ask questions:
- What bone conditions do we have available?
- How do soft tissues behave?
- Do we have the space and conditions for the long-term integration of ceramics?
- Is the patient's priority biology, aesthetics or function?
A zirconia implant is not better or worse than a titanium implant. It is different. And it requires a different philosophy of treatment management.
Why not for everyone?
White implants:
- They are less flexible in extensive structures (e.g. with complete edentulousness).
- They require more precise planning and ideal bone conditions.
- They do not allow modulation of the crown screw angle as freely as titanium.
- They are more fragile and therefore not always recommended in lateral sections.
The conclusion? Not every case is made for zirconia - and not every patient should have it. But that is why, when we use it, we do so with the absolute conviction that it is the best solution for the body in question, not just a fashionable one.
