Types of all-ceramic porcelain bridges
Types of porcelain bridges - which solution to choose?
Missing one or more teeth does not have to mean a compromise between aesthetics and function.
At the clinic Unident Union® in Wroclaw we design and manufacture porcelain bridges all-ceramic restorations that perfectly restore the smile - in both the aesthetic and lateral zones.
Before deciding on a particular type, it is worth learning about the types of porcelain bridges and the differences between them.
What is a porcelain bridge?
A prosthetic bridge is a permanent replacement for missing teeth. It consists of:
- pillar crowns - fixed on adjacent teeth or implants,
- span - an artificial tooth (or teeth) in place of the missing one.
W Unident Union® we work exclusively with all-ceramic materials - aesthetic, durable and biocompatible.
Types of porcelain bridges at Unident Union®
1. classic all-ceramic bridges (on own teeth)
- The most commonly used bridge type.
- Set on polished adjacent teeth that act as pillars.
- The girder 'suspended' between the pillars perfectly imitates a missing tooth.
- Possibility of using materials such as: E.max, zirconia, feldspar porcelain.
For whom?
For patients with 1-3 missing teeth and healthy adjacent teeth.
2. implant-supported bridges (all-ceramic)
- An alternative to classic bridges - without having to grind your own teeth.
- A span based on two or more implants, depending on the number of deficiencies.
- An excellent solution for extensive missing teeth.
- Durable, stable, perfectly reproducing the chewing function.
For whom?
For patients with missing teeth who wish to avoid preparation of healthy teeth.
3. adhesive bridges (Maryland)
- Bridges without grinding teeth.
- Attached to the back surface of the adjacent teeth with so-called 'wings' of metal or zirconia.
- Solution ultraminimum - the tooth remains almost intact.
- Most commonly used when one front tooth (e.g. incisor) is missing.
For whom?
For younger patients in whom an implant cannot yet be placed or who are looking for an aesthetically pleasing temporary restoration.
Note: in Unident Union® DOES NOT bridge teeth and implants
In our clinic, we do not use bridges, which are based on natural teeth and implants at the same time.
Why?
- A natural tooth is elastically suspended in the bone - an implant is a rigid bony prominence.
- Combining them in a single design generates pathological tensions,
- This can lead to loosening or loss of the own tooth.
- That is why we always design bridges either on teeth or on implants - never combined.
This is a principle we adhere to in Unident Union® out of concern for the longevity of the effect and the safety of the patient.
What material do we use to make porcelain bridges?
W Unident Union® we use only materials of class premium:
- Feldspar porcelain - hand layered, translucent, natural,
- Porcelain lithium-silicate (E.max) - embossed, thin and resistant,
- Zirconium (Zirconia) - very robust, ideal for side sections.
Each bridge is planned individually - using wax-ups i mock-upswith the possibility of visualising the effect before cementation.
Summary
W Unident Union® offers three basic types of porcelain bridges - classic, implant-supported and adhesive (Maryland).
Each type is selected individually to suit the patient's needs, occlusal and aesthetic conditions.
Thanks to digital diagnostics, smile design and cooperation with foreign laboratories (Dubai, Brazil), we can offer a result that not only looks great, but also stands the test of time.
